With over three years in the beauty industry, I often field numerous questions from clients about skincare. Recognizing the seasonal changes in physical needs, similar shifts occur in our skin requirements throughout the year, even amidst Canada's long-lasting winters. Therefore, I've decided to share my insights on skincare routine through seasons with my readers.

Before getting into the specifics of adapting skincare routines with each season, consider these universal tips applicable to all skin types:

· Adapt a Skincare Routine: It's crucial to tailor a simple yet effective skincare routine based on your skin type and concerns. Start by ensuring internal hydration with a daily intake of 8-12 glasses of water.

· Diet and Hydration: The impact of diet and hydration on skin health is great. Maintaining a balanced diet and increasing water intake significantly contributes to maintaining healthy skin through seasonal changes.

· Sunscreen: Emphasize the year-round use of sunscreen, a critical shield against harmful UV rays, regardless of the season.

· Professional Consultation: Navigating skincare can be overwhelming, prompting the need for a trusted skincare professional. Especially when addressing specific issues like scarring, acne, melasma or transitioning between seasons.

Now, let's explore each season's unique considerations:

Winter: While relishing winter festivities, harsh Canadian weather poses challenges like eczema and psoriasis. Dry indoor heating exacerbates skin dryness. To combat this, maintaining hydration is crucial. Internally, aim for 8-12 glasses of water daily. Externally, focus on rich moisturizers, gentle cleansers, and products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid.

Spring: As Canadians welcome longer, sunnier days, transitioning from cold to warmer weather prompts oil production increases. Prioritize exfoliation, opt for lighter moisturizers, and incorporate antioxidants like vitamin E, C, and retinol for environmental damage protection and enhanced hydration.

Summer: Summer, beloved by Canadians, brings higher temperatures and increased sun exposure, leading to oilier skin and potential sun damage. Prioritize sun protection with high SPF, opt for oil-free moisturizers, and choose lightweight, non-comedogenic products to prevent closed pores and breakouts.

Fall: Canada's picturesque fall scenery sets the stage for changing skincare needs. With cooling temperatures and humidity fluctuations, skin may experience dryness or increased oiliness. Continuously use sun protection, transition to richer moisturizers as the air gets drier, and address sun damage or pigmentation with the incorporation of Vitamin C and E.

In sharing these insights, my goal is to spread awareness among my readers with knowledge that transcends the seasons, ensuring their skin thrives year-round.
